Raccoon dog refers to those species that are not natural to the area and were introduced by humans. In Europe, it is an invasive species that was artificially introduced by the Soviet Union as a hunting animal in the first half of the 20th century.
In the territory of the Chernobyl alienation raccoon dog feels quite well and is not uncommon. It can often be seen in photo traps. Meetings of several individuals at the same time and meetings of adults with young animals are not isolated. But it's all on photo pests.
During scientific trips we do not have to meet often enough with a representative of the local fauna. All the meetings we had were either at dusk or short, so we still haven't been able to get good photos or videos.
This time we were lucky enough to meet quite a contact individual who did not immediately run away. Shooting was carried out first from the car, and when the animal moved away to a safe distance for us - began to remove from the road. You can see what happened in our next video! We wish you a good viewing!
